About Volunteering

Your questions answered...

What?
What can I do?

There are lots of voluntary organisations that need your help:

  • driving minibuses or digging gardens;
  • serving teas or serving on a committee;
  • giving advice or giving carers a break;
  • looking after swans or listening to children reading.

The list is long and there will be something to suit everyone.

Why?
Why do people volunteer?

  • some have recently retired and miss the company;
  • some want to learn new skills;
  • some want to feel useful;
  • some need to gain more work experience;
  • some want to meet people.

Each volunteer has her or his own reasons and usually the arrangement benefits everyone.

Who?
Who volunteers?

Anyone! Teenagers, pensioners and everyone in between. Volunteers are employed/ retired/ unemployed/ studying/ at home - anyone and everyone!

When?
How much time must I commit?

It's up to you! You may want a regular time each week; you may only have a couple of hours a month; you may prefer to do something occasionally.

All can make a real contribution.

Where?
Do I have to travel? Do I need a car?

No! There are many voluntary organisations throughout the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead which benefit from volunteers' involvement. A place could be found which would be most convenient for you.
